A brand new, stunning 15km course taking in dramatic mountain views skirting the slopes of Helvellyn. This course will both test and exhilarate you. Why not make a dirty trail running weekend of it and enter Sunday's Ullswater Trail too and take part in the "Dirty Double"
Online entries for this year's event will be available from 21/04/08. There will be a limit of 600 for the new 15km Helvellyn Trail Race and Challenge
The course along well marked and marshalled footpaths and bridleways takes you high into the foothills of Helvellyn with elevated panoramic views of Ullswater, and dramatic vistas of Helvellyn and the surrounding peaks.
Underfoot conditions are generally good for those used to off road running, but can be tricky in places, especially if wet. Check out the slide show of the course.
The start and finish arena will be in Jenkins Field, adjacent to the Ullswater Steamers pier where a warm welcome awaits you. Event car parking is at King George V Playing Fields, a short 5 minute walk to the pier.
The course has kilometre markers, there are great prizes on offer for the senior men and women in the Trail Race, along with veteran class winnner's.
There are children's Fun Trails too for under 8's (400m), under 10's (800m) & under 12's (800m) - short laps around the finish arena for all abilities. Every finisher gets a specially engraved medal, and there are winner's prizes and junior spot prizes too.
